Jean-Pierre Favennec is a graduate of the Ecole des Industries Chimiques de Nancy and the French Institute of Petroleum – IFP School.
He is an energy specialist who has published several books and numerous articles on topics related to the economics and geopolitics of energy, notably Geopolitics of Energy (French edition 2022, English editions 2017 and 2024), and the World Energy Atlas (Armand Colin – 2015).
Other publications include: Refinery Management and Operations, Oil Exploration and Production, and Energy Markets.
Jean-Pierre Favennec is particularly known for his work on Africa. He is the President of the Association for the Development of Energy in Africa (ADEA) and has contributed to the establishment of several training institutions across the continent.
